W opisywaniu obrazka po angielsku w gruncie rzeczy chodzi o to, żebyśmy przedstawiali go tak jak osobie niewidomej – musimy jak najdokładniej opisać to co na nim widzimy. Oprócz tego opisując obrazek po angielsku np. na maturze należy skupić się na zachowaniu odpowiednich reguł. Przede wszystkim:

1. Skup się, skoncentruj i pokrótce zaplanuj to co będziesz mówić. Pamiętaj że należy przechodzić od ogółu do szczegółu, więc zanim zaczniesz opisywać coś dokładniej musisz mieć pewność że przekazałeś wszystkie ogólniejsze informacje.

Zwróć uwagę na to że w zdaniu używa się „in” a nie „on”, jak tłumaczyłoby się z polskiego „na obrazku”, co jest najczęściej popełnianym błędem wśród maturzystów.

3. Później przejdź do opisu dwóch płaszczyzn, są to: foreground (pierwszy plan) oraz background (tło). Poszczególne elementy możesz lokalizować również za pomocą zwrotów „in the middle of the picture”, „on the top of the picture”.

4. Po opisaniu tego co widzisz na pierwszym i drugim planie oraz nakreśleniu ogólnej sytuacji, należy przejść do opisywania szczegółów. Jeśli na obrazku przedstawione są osoby,w przypadku każdej z nich należy powiedzieć czy jest to kobieta czy mężczyzna, dorosły czy dziecko, jak wygląda, w co jest ubrany, co robi, oraz jaki ma wyraz twarzy. Możemy przy tym gdybać, np. jeśli osoby te się uśmiechają możemy stwierdzić że dobrze się bawią np. „I suppose they are having great time”, „I guess they are happy because they are laughing”. Z kolei jeśli są smutne lub zmartwione możemy powiedzieć że coś je trapi np. „It seems to me that he is sad”, „I think something wrong happened because he looks grim”.

5. Staraj się używać możliwie najbardziej rozbudowanych zdań jakie jesteś w stanie bezbłędnie zbudować. Unikaj prostych zdań zawierających 3 słowa typu „He is smiling”, „She is sad”, „They are playing/reading/running”.

6. Gdy uznasz że nie jesteś już w stanie powiedzieć nic więcej na temat danego obrazka, zakończ opis słowami typu: „I guess I told everything”, „Do you have any questions?”, „Nothing else comes to my mind”, „I think that is all”.

The other man is wearing a leather jacket, brown trousers and shoes. They both have dark hair and they are holding their hands in their pockets. I think they are at least thirty years old. For me, they look like close friends, walking together through the beach and talking, maybe about their job, maybe about their lives. Perhaps one of them just broke with a girfriend and needs a help from his friend. It is hard to say exactly beacuse we cannot see their faces, but beach is a good place for conversations connected with this kind of topics.
